So pleased to receive this review from ‘Gigs Band & Tours Blog’ about my support for Jess & The Bandits last week at Bush Hall London…..
“Although many missed the opening act, Steve Young. A bit of a jack-of-all-trades (and pretty good at all of them to be honest), Steve has done it all – session musician, touring guitarist for the likes of Lionel Richie, Delta Goodrem and Darren Hayes (I’ll gloss over the tour with Peter Andre!), co-writer on a Darren Hayes album and now, singer in his own right.
And what a singer! An-all-too sparse crowd were treated to an excellent set of well-written, Americana style genre-crossing country/pop/rock with a hint of folk. Throw in some good crowd interactions, including an apology for there being carpet instead of the more satisfying wooden floor, and you wonder why he hasn’t broke out on his own earlier.
Two things stood out for me during Steve’s set – the first being the story behind Nurture. It shows Steve’s talent for songwriting when the inspiration for the song was an accident on the M25 and secondly, the new single ‘Back To Mine’, a very strong song with lyrics that totally enraptured the crowd and had them hanging off every word. It’s not often a support artist does that”
